On the other side of the Equinox, the darkness increases. The harvest has come in, and now we celebrate, then rest, contemplate. The dark and chthonic deities have their time and their way with us. I’ve been reading and thinking about difficult periods in my life, how my view of them has changed. When life feels messy, catastrophic, especially frightening, I’ve gotten into the practice of shifting my perception just a little bit, and moving them from experiences of trauma to initiatory events. It’s difficult at first, but it can be done. It means becoming accustomed to change, dismantling, and surrender. We are in the season of compost now. By spring, we will see new color, with greater vibrancy. The light is made so much more beautiful when we experience the inevitable darkness.

New in the online shop! Handmade Ogham staves in Yew wood. The Yew was a sacred tree to the Druids, connecting to death and resurrection. ($45)

The Ogham is an ancient Celtic/Druidic language. Each stave character relates to a specific sacred tree and has its own meanings that can be used for divination, much like the Tarot. This 25 stave set includes the Forfeda engraved on solid Yew hardwood, which has a beautiful, natural finish. Included is a velvet pouch to carry your set and a sheet with brief descriptions of each character’s meanings and a casting pattern.

Each stave is 3″ X 1/2″, and they are clear coated with a vintage shellac to protect the wood and ensure a long life. Because this is a handmade item (made by a practitioner) each set is unique and made with intention and knowledge of the implements.
